The main advantage of InnoDB over Myisam, is the lack of table locking. This allows many queries to process faster.
The ‘downside’ of using InnoDB, is that you need to allocate enough RAM to your Mysql configuration to hold your entire dataset. If you do not have enough memory, then your database will start swapping to disk causing huge slowdown.
